NALP is proud to announce it has conferred this year’s Pro Bono Publico Award on Wesley Slone, a rising 3L at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. We selected Slone for his work fostering pro bono opportunities for classmates at Mitchell Hamline— to the benefit of his community broadly.

Against a competitive field, Slone stood out in NALP’s deliberations for his leadership in service of Mitchell Hamline’s Self-Help Clinic, recruiting and organizing fellow students and even expanding the Clinic’s scope of work.

In the words of his nominator:

Wesley not only continues to volunteer with the Clinic, but serves in the elected role of Executive Director of the Clinic. He recruits and trains his fellow students to provide this crucial assistance to disadvantaged clients, while managing the overall Clinic program. In an effort to serve even more unmet client needs, Wesley has recently jumpstarted a pilot program, expanding the work of the Clinic to include eviction expungement matters.

NALP congratulates Wesley Slone for his dedicated service and leadership! We look forward to seeing what he is able to accomplish in his final year at Mitchell Hamline–and beyond as he ultimately begins his postgraduate career.
